2nd Graders. The spider soup.

Hi all,

Last days we have been involved in a restaurant roleplay. 2nd graders have been waiters, clients or chefs. We have been working on the expressions: "What would you like...?" "I would like..." Words like orange juice, water, soup came up! A client found a spider in a soup, WHAT A MESS!!!! This group is  really into theatre!!!




3rd Graders. "What would you like?...."

Hi all,

With 3rd graders over the last days we've been working on the "I would like..." expression. We started with a roleplay in a restaurant where a very disappointed client found a spider in a soup.
We are getting into the Halloween mood, so expression like "I would like a witche's nose", "I would like the skeleton's hand" or "I would like the vampire's teeth" have been commonplace these days...

Hi all!

Halloween is just around the corner and P4 are really getting into its mood!!! We are learning vocabulary such as monster, witch, ghost and many more. We played the spider game where they had to imitate different Halloween characters. They had a hell of a fun :)

5th Let's discover our classroom!


Hello to everybody:

We have done several activites related to our classroom since the beginning of the year. For example, a game of questions and answers to build vocabulary (nouns like cushion, trolley, book.. and the most common verbs to each one like sit down, bring (back), lie down...) and a game called What's in the box? to practise speaking and revise the vocabulary learned.

6B. Goals for this new course

Hello to everybody:

September is a good moment to think about goals for the next course. So, our first project, which included a short writing, was called Goals for this new course. 

In short, we introduced the topic and gave a definition of what a goal is (something that you hope to achieve), then we made a list of them and provide the students with some standard sentences to help them start writing, like"This course I have got three goals. First, I want to ..., second I want to..., and third I want to... and I want to be able to write a letter in English", I want to get a better mark in English subject...

After finishing a draft, they wrote the clean copy in a special letter, and finally they decorated an envelope to put the letter in.

1A Let's discover our classroom!

Hello to everybody,

In this post I'd like to inform you all about what we have been working on since the beginning of this new course.

The project that we are carrying out is called Let's discover our classroom. It includes a wide range of activities all related to the place where we get in contact with English,: the classroom.
Therefore, our classroom is the means to build vocabulary and to build first sentences, too. We have done so by playing games, by writing, by colouring... We have also learned to count from one to ten, and more and more

2A Let's discover our classroom!

Hello to everybody:

In this post I'd like to inform you all about what we have been working on since the beginning of this new course, giving you some details, too.

The project that we are carrying out is called Let's discover our classroom. It includes a wide range of activities all related to the place where we get in contact with English. Therefore, our classroom is the means to build vocabulary and to build first senteces, too. 

A session usually has three parts: a warm-up activity, at the beginning, which consists of a short speaking (either about the weekend or about the routine at school) or a game (like "Pica Paret", English version, for example); a main activity, which is related to such topic, and a final activity in a more relaxed way, how to match up pictures, or a worksheet.

We have learned a lot of new words, like whiteboard, notebook, folder, a sheet of paper, pencil, pencil case, colour pencil, markers, hightlighter, rubber (or eraser), scissors, ruler, paper clip, and more and more.

We have made our first sentences, like This is... or These are..., That is..., Those are..., and we have had the help of mimics to have it funnier. 

Another activity has been Questions & Answers abour our classroom. In short, we put three objects on a desk and we had to ask questions (and answer them) in teams, with teacher's help. Sentences like: Can you sit down on this/that cushion? A: Yes, I can (= Sure I can/ Of course...); 2. Can you bring this/that cushion?, 3. Q: Can you bring this/that cusion back?, 4.Q: Can you lie down on this cushion?; Trolley - 1. Q: Can you sit down on the trolley? A: Yes, I can, 2. Can you drive the trolley around the class?, 3. Can you bring the trolley?, Can you put yourself into the trolley?...

Apart from all these activities, we have discovered how to write dates in English by writing our birthday in a sheet of paper. This activity obviously was called When is your birthday? My birthday is... It is a fun way to review the numbers!

3rd graders What can you do ?


After a week of playing different games about the question what an amimal is able to do , we started this week playing theatre with the question ; What can you  do ?
We watched the video of pumpkins , lesson 11 Yes I can , No I can't.
The students got inspired by this video, so next class we will continue to present the performance of each student.
The students have to act out 2 things they can do and one thing they can't do.For example ; ¨I can swim, I can dance but I can't sing ¨
This is a dynamic group with loads of fantasy and creativity. And we have a lot of fun !!

2nd Graders What can the animals do ?

Hello everybody  !

With the second graders we are working with the sentences, Yes, it can ...No it can't.
We used questions like;  Can a bear climb ?  Can a bird run ?  Can a frog  swim ?
We played different games using animals  with different verbs.
As well we used the question . ¨What can an animal eat ?¨ Can it eat grass ?  Yes it can Can it eat the sun ? ¨No it can't ? ¨Can it eat meat ?¨ ¨Yes it can¨   ¨Can it eat a cloud?  ¨ ¨No it can't¨.
We made an animal out of playdough and had a lot of fun !!

p4 Being animals.....

Hello everybody,




With p4 we are working on many things....colours , numbers and animals.
Often we start on the playground.  We roll a dice , Each number of the dice is related with an animal.
The student asks:; ¨I want the dice ¨  we all say; ¨ Roll the dice ¨¨  Then we look which animal we have to act out and all students moving like , for example a horse , a chicken, a cat , a dog, a cow or a snake.
We watched the video;  ¨Walking in the jungle ¨ ( you tube simple songs). In this video appear different animals like, a monkey , a tiger, a frog , a bird , an elephant.
As well we read the book; Brown bear brown bear what do you see, a red bird is looking at me, red bird red bird what do you see?  A blue horse is looking at me
After reading the book  we made an animal out of plasteline and we introduced the vocabulary :  head,  eyes , ears , mouth, tail, and legs. The students could make a colourful animal , for example ...a pink head , a blue tail, yellow eyes etc. They used sentences like ..I want a pink head, I want yellow eyes.
We always have a lot of fun !!!

3rd Grade / Speaking

Throughout this term, my focus is using various activities to build confidence with vocabulary, because the next progressive phase at this level is conversation. In any language, verbs are absolutely essential. 
So, at this moment we are concentrating on verbs and prepositions.
We will be doing various art activities and games connected with literature and music. Below is a song we are practicing in class.









3rd Grade / A Visitor for Bear

We are doing various activities to try to build confidence  with vocabulary, but more importantly conversation. We will be doing various activities connected with literature, art, and music.
 At the moment we are reading a story ¨A Visitor for Bear¨.
We are emphasizing prepositions in, on, under, in front of, behind, next to, between...as the small grey mouse appears to Bear in his cupboard , in his cup, in his bread drawer, and then again in his kettle. 
This is story about an unlikely friendship between a bear and a mouse. Share the story together at home.

2nd graders True or False

Hello everybody,

With the second grades we started to revise some English. We played the game truths and lies.
The students had to say  a sentence that could be  true or false.
For example : My birthday is in May. The other students had to guess if it was true or false.
Another sentence was ; My favourite transport is by plane . ( variations...by boat, by bycycle, by car).
The students liked the game a lot !
Last week we started with the topic beach. We used the sentence; ¨ I want a towel , I want some food etc. ( vocabulary : umbrella , towel , camara , food , money , swimming suit. swimming trunks)
While drawing a beach appeared new vocabulary like for example crab and light house.

3rd graders Going to the beach

Hello Everybody !

Hope you had a nice summer !
Well to stay a bit in the summer mood 3rd graders started with the topic ¨ The beach¨.
We played different games around this topic.and used  for example the sentence ; I'm going to the beach and i need some suncream   .
Vocabulary: Suncream, towel, camara, money, food, swimming trunks, swimming suit, umbrella.
The last class we were drawing with crayons a beach...and there appeared new vocabulary like thunder and lightning....as the sun does't always shine.






P4 Being Indians........

Hello everybody !

We had already  a lot of fun in the English classes. Normally the class starts when leaving the canteen ,We move like different animals before entering in the classroom.
Then we sit on the floor in a circkle and play a ballgame. These days we moved the ball by saying the sentences; My name is.....and I like green..I like blue etc.
Then there is Song time ,   We moved our bodies  and listened to the songs; I see something blue...and when you happy and you know it clap your hands
This week we started the topic Indians, We danced and named differnt actions (walk, jump, play the drum) in the video 10 little indians. We made  a real indian headband and played as  we were indians.



And as you see . They are a real tribe !!! And  friendship is very important.

A special day at the cinema!

Hi families!

Last days, last lessons! Today we enjoyed a very special day at the cinema!!! Words and sentences like ticket, pop corn, drinks, queue, please be quiet, turn off your phone were used and introduced!
We got to eat some delicious pop corn!!!! Yummy!!!

3rd graders Sports, What do you need for each sport?

Hello everybody  ! Last week we worked on the topic sport. We had to listen to a sentence that described a sport and the the students had to find the flashcard with the sport. For exemple ; For this sport you need a helmet and you practice it in winter.   Skiing  !  Yessss !  Find the card.
As well we did different activities with the sentence; You have to..... The students had to use a fortune teller to know what to do. For example you have to walk with the plate on the stick, you have to run around the pool , you have to jump through the ring.



And of course, you have to use the hoola hoop for 30 seconds.

3rd graders Going out ! What can you find in the shops ?






Hello everybody ,

With 3rd graders we did a lot of activities.  We visited different shops , by turns two students explained in front of the camara what you could find in the shop. For example ; In the sportshop you can find ; trainers, shorts,balls and bags,  in the petshop  you can find food for animals , rabbits, dogs and cats. On a big paper we drew the different shops and the things you can buy there.

p5 In action...Can you............?


Hello everybody !!

 With p5 we did many activities,  There is a kind of ritual; First we shout open the door, the door opens...students run into the class and say; ¨We want the costumes "...They dress themselves up and we sing a few songs together.  Then there is always the song of  the magic bag. Each day there is a different surprise in the bag. The last days we used the sentences ; Can you...... ? Yes , I can ...No I can't.


Can you put the plate on the stick?   Can you walk with the plate on the stick ?
And we made a craft , we decorated a mirror.  and learned the sentence ; I can see myself.

We continued with the question  Can you...? related with the senses and the weather. The questions are  ; Can you see the sun ?  Can you hear the rain ?  Can you touch a cloud ?  Can you smell the rain ? etc. Of course we have fun !!!

P4 Cloudy and a chance of icecream....





Hello everybody,

With p4 we keep on playing ,singing and creating. We made a craft related to the movie , cloudy and a chance of meatballs. In this movie there is raining food, so the students made a paper  cloud with cotton wool  and coloured some food items and put them on a string like rain.
The plan for the classes of p 4 can change a lot . For example the  teacher  wants to do a running game with the animals that are hungry ,the students can change this plan as they want to  play theatre.


                                    
Slowly they are getting more and more familiar with the English languatge, repeating sentences and singing songs.

1A & 1B (and 1C) - Sleeping away camps in advance

Hi all,

This week first graders have had the experience of sleeping away camps in advance, as we have done different activities related to this topic, such as discovering new vocabulary, playing a gymcama or colouring a postcard, and even a little role playing (with 1A).

Concretely, we have seen several words that have somehow a connection with sleeping away camps. For example: camping, campfire, sleeping bags, bunk beds, free time, to miss parents, go for a hike, and so on. We have also made a postcard for you, parents, which is not finished yet, for children to tell you what they are doing in the sleeping away camps and how they feel.

About the role playing, last Wednesday, we joined 1A and 1C, and three students played the role of being camp counselors and planned a set of activities, and the rest of the class pretended to be just participants. It worked very well, and such three students had the opportunity to put in our shoes, and be aware of how difficult to dela with students is sometimes, which ís a good exercise, we think.
